How do you decide between selective, push back, drive-in, and pallet flow racking?

It comes down to SKU count, pallet depth per SKU, and how fast product turns. Selective racking wins when you need 100% pick face access across many SKUs; push back and drive-in make sense when you have fewer SKUs with several pallets each and can live with LIFO. Pallet flow is the answer for FIFO date-coded product with real throughput. We model two or three options in CAD so you can compare pallet positions and pick rates side by side before committing.

Is the warehouse design consultation really free?

Yes. We will take your building dimensions, column grid, lift equipment, and pallet profile and return a CAD layout with a pallet position count at no cost. Most St. Louis area operations we work with find 15-30% more positions in the same footprint once beam elevations and aisle widths are set around their actual pallet heights.

How much additional storage can we realistically gain without adding square footage?

Usually more than people expect. Tightening beam elevations to real pallet heights, narrowing aisles to match your lift equipment, and adding a level in the clear height above the top beam are the three biggest levers. On a reconfiguration we will show you the before and after pallet counts so the gain is a number, not a promise.

What information do you need from us to start a layout?

Building dimensions and clear height, column spacing, sprinkler type, your lift trucks and their capacities, and a typical pallet size and loaded weight. A rough SKU list with velocity helps a lot. If you have a floor plan or a previous rack drawing, send it and we can usually turn a first layout around in a few business days.
